The cockatoos of the birdfarm

We, Rita and Nobby, learned to love the cockatoos on our trip through Australia. With new camera equipment in our luggage, we watched in southeast Australia how a flock of black cockatoos flew to their food trees. One of the nicest moments was watching the animals actively consuming food.

Red-tailed black cockatoo

Calyptorhynchus banksii samueli

We breed these beautiful animals successfully in pairs and swarms - natural brood and hand-rearing. With the latter, we attach great importance to the early socialization of the young animals, since an imprint on humans can lead to behavioral disorders. Of our 10 breeding animals, nine were raised by hand - so we are very proud that three couples raise their young in nature without any problems. If you give nature a chance, you will be rewarded.

Yellow-tailed black cockatoo

Calyptorhynchus funereus

On our travels, we prefer to stay near him for weeks and watch the animals in nature. We feel like in a dream when we can watch the animals approach their feeding places. The Yellow-tailed black cockatoo has a wonderful nature. They are among the most active animals on the birdfarm - so we provide them with fresh chewing wood almost every day.

White-tailed black cockatoo

Calyptorhynchus latirostris

The melodic whistling of the White-tailed black cockatoo is unique and often seduces us to listen. Compared to its neighbors, the Yellow-tailed black cockatoo, it is considerably smaller and reaches around 2/3 its size. In addition, it is much more endangered in its homeland - it can be found almost exclusively in Yanchep Park in Western Australia.

Palm cockatoo

Probosciger aterrimus goliath

The palm cockatoo is and remains demanding in keeping. That is why we treat our couples to large aviaries with various retreats. These are necessary for successful breeding in order to curb the indecency of the male. The aterrimus aterrimus and the aterrimus goliath are native to our bird farm. A differentiator is not only the size, but above all the melody. In the morning or evening there is nothing better than listening to the Goliath singing.

Gang-gang cockatoo

Callocephalon fimbriatum

Our smallest cockatoo is native to the Australian Blue Mountains. In the winter months he can also be found in the Australian capital Canberra, mainly in its green parks. The Gang-gang cockatoo needs a lot of activity and - like all black cockatoos - a lot of animal protein. With its unique tones it enchants us again and again.

Major mitchell´s cockatoo

Cacatua leadbeateri

A dream of white and pink - the Major mitchell´s cockatoo. The successful breeding on our birdfarm began with them in 2008. The animals have a very bright, active personality and are still part of our farm.

Galah

Eolophus roseicapilla

They are the pigeons of Australia because they appear in groups in public places and enjoy food leftovers. The Galah cockatoo has a pleasant character and is easy to keep in breeding. Our parent animals raise their young very well and are characterized by a particularly intense pink color.

We are there!
